Synthesis Lab ยท last updated 13 October 2026
Synthesis Lab is a research workspace: it stores your manuscripts and sources, runs checks, reviews and analyses on them, and lets AI assistants (ours in the app, or your own client connected over MCP) read and change your work with your permission. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
You keep all rights to the manuscripts, sources, notes and results you put in or produce. We need only the permission to store, process and display them to run the service for you and the people you share with. We do not use your work to train models.
Text, citations, verdicts, reviews and analyses produced by AI features are suggestions. They can be wrong. Synthesis Lab records what was changed, by whom and why, so you can check it; deciding whether a claim is supported, whether a citation is correct, and what to submit remains your responsibility as the author.
Add only material you have the right to use. Open-access papers are fetched where a licence allows it. Paywalled PDFs you upload are stored for your own use within the service; do not share projects containing them with people who are not entitled to read them.
Paid plans are billed through Stripe monthly or yearly and include a monthly model allowance; use beyond it comes from purchased credits. AI use by editors inside a shared project draws on the project owner's allowance. A free tier, where offered, includes a small allowance and project limits and may change. You can cancel at any time; the plan runs to the end of the paid period. Refunds for unused time are at our discretion.
Do not use the service to break the law, to attack it or other systems, to extract other people's data, to run abusive volumes of requests, or to fabricate research records presented as genuine. We may suspend accounts that do.
We work to keep the service up and your data safe, with backups, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change features, prices (with notice for existing subscribers) and these terms; material changes are announced in the app.
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You can delete your account by emailing support@synth-lab.com; export what you need first. We may close accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practical.
